Can't send mail to AOL.com?

AOL (America Online) has become very picky in who they will receive email from. The decided a while back that you cannot send an email directly to one of their customers if you are sending it from your own IP address. Obviously this is because of spam and virus related issues, but it is still a step in the wrong direction. Spam and viruses can be combatted other ways.

Our mailboxes can also be used to relay mail. If you are running your own mail server, or simply using POP3 with us, you can relay mail to AOL.com through us. Here's how:

Using your own mail server: Setup a POP3 mailbox with us. This will allow you to create an 'authentication mailbox' so that you have something to supply when using SMTP AUTH. The email address and password of the mailbox that you create will become the SMTP AUTH information that you need to put into your sending servers security settings.

Using our pop3 mailboxes: Simply send an email using your own client or our webmail and it will get reliably delivered to AOL.com without getting rejected because of an IP address issue.

Note: The following domains we have found also have similiar acceptance policies to that of AOL.

aol.com
earthlink.net
rr.com and all sub domains.
