Subject: Using a URL redirect with a dynamic IP address

Your Dynamic DNS client can automatically update records on our system. However, you can only update A records with these automated clients. If you wish to update a URL redirect then follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Create a new hostname on our DNS servers and call it something like 'IP.domain.tld'. This will be an A record that simply has your current IP address. This is the hostname that you should update using your Dynamic DNS client.
Step 2 - In your URL redirect record enter the destination address as something like 'IP.domain.tld:8080'. This will inherit the IP address on the A record above and then forward it to the port number appended to the URL redirect.
NOTE: If you are using host headers on your web server you will see the IP.domain.tld hostname, not the URL redirection hostname. This is because the URL redirect on our side will be sending visitors to the hostname in the destination field, therefore your server only sees the IP.domain.tld hostname.
