You might see a link next to domain names in your account that show 'NS PROBLEM' or 'WRONG NS'. This means that when a DNS lookup is done on your domain it shows something other than our DNS servers. This can happen for any of the following reasons:
1. Your domain is brand new and no DNS information has been published at the root servers as of yet. This is typical for every new domain name on the internet. The .INFO and .ORG registries have started publishing new records within 1 hour - very nice!
2. Your domain is pointing to another DNS provider currently. A listing of the current NS records will be displayed when clicking on the 'NS Problem' link. You will need to change those NS records from the previous DNS provider to our name servers below. This change typically takes 24-72 hours to complete.
3. Your domains NS records were just changed at the current registrar where you bought the name. If the status still shows 'NS Problem' then it's mostly because the previous TTL on the domain has not expired, therefore any new records won't be used until that expires. You can check this using a NSLookup tool that shows TTL (under our utility menu) to determine how long until the TTL expires. You would search the domain name with a record type of NS.
. . . and a handful of other reasons. If your domain is not working and you still cannot figure it out, please email us at Support@ChangeIP.com - this is why we are here.
The 'NS Problem' link does not automatically go away at the moment. You will need to click the link to have the status updated. In the future this will be automated.
