Subject: Port 80 blocked?
Rate this article
It's becoming very rare for an ISP to allow you to serve up your own website these days. This is because Internet Service Providers are blocking TCP port 80, the default path that all www traffic on the internet uses. If your provider is blocking port 80 inbound you cannot serve up a website unless you change the tcp port. Changing the port on your end means that you must communicate the new port number to anyone who wishes to find you.
NO PROBLEM!
Our Dynamic DNS product includes free URL redirects (webhop, redirects, port relay) which can get around these port 80 blocks. You simply setup a hostname with a URL record type, enter the destination, including the port number, and wha la, everyone going to your hostname will now get redirected to the right IP and port number automatically.
