Subject: Domain Registration Expiration and Redemption Status Explanation

A domain registration on our NetworkSolutions platform will get an automatic 7 day grace period after expiration. The domain is deactivated at the registrar after those 7 days. The domain registration then goes another 28 or so days waiting for a renewal to occur. If the registrant doesn't renew within about 25-30 days of it being down they push it to the next step, which is RedemptionStatus. This REDEMPTIONSTATUS was created by ICANN to give a registrant another 30 days to allow a last ditch effort renewal attempt. Once a domain is placed into RDP status it can still be renewed but at a higher price charged by the registry operator for that specific TLD. After about 25-30 more days go by without a recovery they will delete the domain and release it back to the public after a 5-7 day PENDINGDELETE status.

A faq that talks about the different domain statuses:

VeriSign charges a higher rate for their RDP recoveries. Our registrar charges us $150 which adds one year to the domain registration once recovered. We do not agree with this fee so we will always pass the charge directly to the customer without any markup or extra costs.

If the domain is very important to you we suggest a domain recovery as early as possible (it takes 1-3 days). If you are willing to fight thru a crowd to purchase it once it's released you can buy it as new about 75-80 days after it's original expiration date.

Many times a scammy company will purchase almost every domain name that drops and 'taste' it for 3-5 days. They have the option to delete it without cost to them so they purchase anything possible and see if it's traffic was valuable. If after 5 days you DO NOT contact them they will most likely delete it immediately. We've seen this happen many times. If you contact them and ask to purchase the domain they will keep it and most likely want more than the original RDP recovery fee.

If your domain registration is not working please determine the cause as soon as possible. Waiting a month before looking into it will most likely cost you money and possibly your domain names ownership.

Please SCROLL DOWN to the very bottom of your MyAccount page on our website to look for their expiration dates and renewal options.
