Configuring your firewall or router for NetAV connectivity.
Once you have assigned your base station a static IP address on
your private network you will need to allow it access through your
firewall. In the USA most firewalls call this 'Port
Forwarding' or 'Enable DMZ'. Port forwarding is recommended
for security purposes. Port 5021 TCP is the only port used to
communicate from the monitor to the base station. Almost all
routers have the ability to forward ports from the public internet
to your private network. Each firewall or router has a
different method of accomplishing port forwarding, please see your
manual for more detailed instructions. Some of the most common
configuration screens are below.
Linksys General Instructions:
Once you have logged into your router you
should proceed to the 'Port Forwarding' tab. This may be under
the 'Advanced' or 'Setup' section. You will want to create a
port forward from port 5021 - 5021 to go to the private IP address
that you assigned in Step 4. The base station uses port 5021 TCP,
so make sure to check any boxes that enable TCP protocols. You
may give this port forward entry the name 'lftv', if needed.
After entering the new port forwarding entry make sure to save your
changes and reboot your router.

D-Link Generic Instructions:
Login to the router and choose 'Advanced' from the top menu.
Now choose 'Virtual Server' on the left side of the screen.
This is where you will create the port forwarding for the LocationFree® TV services. Enter 'LocationFree TV' as the name.
The private IP address is the one you configured in Step 4.
The protocol type is TCP and both ports should be set to 5021.
Save your changes and reboot the router.

NetGear Instructions:
Login to the router and choose 'Port
Forwarding' under the Advanced section. You will need to
add a custom service entry to create a listing for LocationFree® TV
on port 5021. Click on 'Add Custom Service' and name it
'LocationFree TV'. Enter port 5021 and choose TCP.
Save this entry and exit to the previous screen. Now, choose
the new service you created under 'Service Name' and enter
the private IP address assigned to the base station in Step 4.
Save your changes and reboot your router.
